Hi Guys:
I live in upstate NY close to Niagra Falls, if you want to pop by there's always a cuppa going.  Alternatively, I'll be happy to mail them.

Hi  Mikejee,
I'll mail  them to you.  I don't need the postage, thank you anyway.  I'd just like give them to someone who could use them.
I note that I had said that they were early 60's, however, they are actually early 70's.  I was home on vacation, loved the mosaics, and took shots of the entire wall. Also  St. Martin's,  Nelson's statute  and various shots of Nechells. There's about 25 in all.
I'm not sure how to get them to you.

Phil, The picture of the children from St Anne's School, are shown leaving the gas works recreation rooms, My father worked in the retort house at Saltley Gas Works, and every year, us children of the workers, were invited to a christmas party, in those rooms, and in the summer months, we were taken on an outing, that was in the late 1940s  early 1950s, wonderful memories were brought back looking at that picture, thanks Phil.

Hi Everyone , i am very new to this sit and i must say i think it is fab !! I myself was not born in nechells but my dad"s parents lived ther and i believe they stayed there some years , i do remember as a child going to visit my Gran , and i also remember my Dad took us to the Price Rupert pub  on the way  home !!! He was a member of a club on the main rd towards the city just under the brige , i only remember it as Nechells Club as kids we had many nights out there .
Anyway the Family name is Elston , i seem to remember    something about cato st ? They wher a big family my Gran married twice after losing Grandad Elston , she then went on to marry Grandad Cook /Cooke not sure te right spelling ! The Elstons consisited off Walter (Wally ) Violet ( sissy ) Ronald (Ron ) Albert / John ( titch ) my dad x and Iris . The cooks where David , Derick , Brian , Maureen . I believe there was a sister called Carol that sadly died as a child also .
All these would have drank in the pubs around Nechells after reading all the posts i do seem to reconise some the names . The family would have been aroun from about 1930 ish ?
Anyway if anyone can help me if they remembered any the family i would love to hear from you .
Before i go my husband worked with Billy boucher at west midlands travel before we moved out of Birmingham to The Isle of Wight !
Great site by the way .
