I used that one too, I'd weigh my tat in, check for old motorbikes, then have a pint in the Albion.

Bang on, you'd be standing near the scrappy gate to have taken the snap.

Hi Phil,This is an hard one to workout for me,as you know I came from this side of Nechells, Railway Terrace was only four streets away from the road I used to live on, having studied the photo that you have posted I think and I may be wrong on this statement. it is between High Park street and Long Acre?.the reason why is the roof of a large building to the left of the pic looks like the backend of the Methodist church in Long Acre here is a link to a photo of the church I mean http://www.birminghamforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2897.0 or it could possibly be the roof of L H Newtons?

The member that requested any photos of Railway Terrace was Phil48

All I have to go on is the name tag with the image, as you know it's not my side of Nechells as a rule the furthest I would get up Bloomsbury St was the El Greco café.

During the years 1959-61 my parents were moved temporary to Cato Street North, whilst awaiting their eventual move to brand new accommodation at Highgate.I was out in Cyprus at this time, however I did return home for a months leave in Xmas 1959 and spent my time at this address.
My God!! what an experience,And I thought Sparkbrook was rough. The house was situated on the left hand side of the road, going towards the Albion, the last house before the bomb site.A short months stay, but what an impression it left.

Hi GeeGee - Cato St. North was my old stamping ground at that time, one of my mates lived in one of the houses at the back of yours.I remember the family who lived there vaguely, they had a son and daughter who used to join in with us.We still meet up once a month and have a drink in ''The Albion'',a Irish pub now but very good pint and very clean.Small world. The top end of Cato Street North was a chocolate box painting compared to some parts of Nechells.

Hi Blane,We were a very large family. We lost our youngest brother there (only 2 years of age Tony RIP)March 1960, as I said our short stay there certainly left it's mark. O0

Thanks for the photo Phil I recall that stretch of the road well.I was a fitness fanatic at the time and would walk that way during my daily visit to the public baths.During my leave my younger sister arranged a blind date for me with her workmate But,she came from your neck of the woods opposite your local cinema. We have mentioned this previously.
