Freshly cooked doughnuts?
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:46:34 PM »
Does anyone recall the name of the shop, in the late 1960's , that was located in the city centre, just off the ramp in between the outdoor markets and the escalator to new street. There was a window in the front of the premises where you could buy freshly cooked doughnuts ,so fresh that you could watch them being cooked in an automatic machine.
Some people I have asked say it was a chip shop  called the "Jolly Fryer" . Others say it was a cafe a few doors from the chippy.
     Any ideas?

             Thanks
