The pub is called the Fleur De Ley at Lowsenford.

It is still there, mainly a restaurant now, nice trip out,by the canal.

I can remember going out there on Saturday evenings, having a pie and a drink. :)

Andy

Its so true. you get a good idea start to market it and build up a good customer base. What happens the big guys move in, make your life a misery until you sell out and then start cutting corners.

The product looses its appeal, and the customer base dries up. Finally the product disappears from the market.

I REMEMBER GOING TO A WIMPY BAR IN THE LATE 1950S OR EARLY 1960S. WHERE SMALLBROOK RINGWAY IS NOW NOT TO SURE IF IT HAD BEEN REDEVELOPED OR IT WAS STILL SMALLBROOK STREET AT TIME. IT WAS GREAT NO MACDONALDS ABOUT THEN.

Andy,

The Kardomah on Snow Hill was the one the women always used to go on about. I never rated it much myself. I always preferred the Municipal Restaurant in Worcester St at the back of the market. Plain simple meals, but cheap and good.

The last Wimpy Bar I ever heard of in Birmingham was at the Silver Blades ice Ring in Pershore Street.

The last one I ever used was at the top of New Street, I used to use it after taking a new girls on a first date to the Odeon. After the first date it was the local flea pit and fish & chips or a burger.

Anybody remember the all night film shows at the Odeon on Friday nights. they were another regular call of mine.
