Phil,do you have any more pictures of Moseley?

I collect old postcards and I have quite a few of Moseley but would love to see if you have any different to mine.

I also have an old cream pot.

On it it says Cold Bath Farm,Moseley,kindly return jar.

Any body know the story behind these jars.?

I'll have a look what I have got on Moseley. tramp is the one to ask about Coldbath Farm he used to know the people who owned it.

No ,not just postcard pictures ,anything you have,very much appreciated.

One of the things I like about the pictures I have is to
see how very little Moseley has changed.

The building on the front left is Boots the chemist now.

In fact all those buildings are still standing.

As you say, even with these the buildings are still there just different uses.

The first picture looks like going up the hill out of Moseley,towards Kings Heath.

If I am right the first shop on the left was a one time home of JR Tolkien ,he lived in a few places round the area.The dog shop has had many uses.But looking much the same,The park garage was probably called that as the private park in Moseley is behind that garage.

Yes all still there,it makes it so interesting as you can pinpoint then straight away.

Sadly,Salisbury's,now opposite the garage had the building gutted but they had to keep facade.

I have not seen these pics Phil so really pleased to see them.

That first shop would be 214 Alcester Rd. You are right about the location it would be opposite the post office but slightly further up the hill. I was unaware of the Tolkien connection, but I knew that he had lived in Wake Green Rd.

Here a couple of book ends, opposite corners of Woodbridge Rd.

First picture was an outdoor a few years ago,not sure what now.

The bank still looks much the same except cashpoint now by left hand lampost.

Collected many beer tokens there

When they closed our branch of Lloyds in Balsall Heath we were transferred to that branch. I hated it. The car park was too small and I often had to park miles away and walk. Not a very clever thing to have to do when collecting the wages on a Friday.

I nearly fell for it and was going to ask "what beer tokens" until I realised you meant money.

I also remember Shuffelbottoms on the other corner, I have a photo of the inside somewhere I'll look it out. It was a wonderfull old shop in its day.

You are right Phil,the car park is terrible.

If you could get in it was a nightmare to get out,especially if you are not great at maneuvering ,like me

Moseley very bad for parking,luckily I lived short distance from the village,Park Hill so used to walk most of the time.

I must say how much I enjoy looking at all your pics Phil.

This forum has awoken many long forgotten memories for me.
