Morning Phil
We have to be very careful in what we say nowadays.. I am sure you are an inteligent person and you do know what I mean. It was a frightening situation and it was made very clear to me I was not welcome in the park.
Gerald... Garden Gerald.

No sorry I do not know what you mean I often frequent many of the parks on this side if Birmingham. In fact I took my grandchildren to Small Heath Park a couple of weeks back and both they and myself had nothing to be frightened about.

Hi again townie.

Do you know where on Garrison Lane the police station was situated? I used to help a mate out who had a car body shop back in the late 70's early 80's. Just up from the Sportsman Pub, next to the car tuning place. He had a customized Morris 1000 van, always parked on the road outside the workshop. It was about that time that the area was being demolished, with a few rows of houses by the Sportsman still standing.

There was also probably the last surviving grocery shop at the bottom of Garrison Lane opposite the park near the petrol garage. I don't recall the old police station, it may have been demolished years before.

Steve by the look of the photo I would have a guess at around the late 1800s

Countrylad Your best bet is Phil or Mikejee they have all the old maps of Birmingham plus access to Kellys

Thank you.

Countrylad

I have seen this photo before and it is always tagged as Nechells Green Police Station, a far as I am aware that particular police station was on Nechells Park Road just past High Park Corner.

There we have a dilemma is it the photo straight from The Gangs of Birmingham book Nechells Park Road police station or a photo from damsdeepzoom.shoothill.com. Garrison Lane police station Small Heath. Does anyone else have any ideas? Thank you.
