Hi Alan

The Lincoln Poacher is still there, at least it was the last time I passed by on the way to the Cemetery up the road from there. It's a pub I think I was only in three times in my life. I used to have a relation who lived in the Avenue and when we visited we would pop in there.

Ken I cant do 1946 for you, the nearest I can do is the 1950 edition which is in reality 1949. Perhaps MikeJee who has a bigger library than I can take a look and tell if there is a difference between the two years. Phil

A request Please.... Did anyone out there live in ELGIN GROVE, SOUTH YARDLEY  in the 1940's/1950's ????? If so do they have any memories/info about Mrs JEMIMA GREEN (widow) she lived at no 13 Elgin Grove & died there in 1956, I believe she lived with one of her sons.  I really would appreciate any info on this lady if possible.
Many Thanks,
Ladybird.

Hi Greenways

There was one at 479 Coventry rd Small Heath that would have been close to Langley Rd. There was another at 1176 Coventry Rd Hay Mills, that one would have been close to Deakins Rd.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for that, but I should have been more specific - Coventry Road at Sheldon.

The Municipal Bank at Sheldon was on the shopping parade just past the Horse Shoes public house. I don't think it opened until the early 60's or thereabouts it was at 2144 Coventry Rd Sheldon.

Thanks Phil.  Is the Municipal building still there, as it was a pretty modern one?

I am still getting my bearings on this part of the Coventry Road, so is the Horse Shoes pub still there, as so many of them have now gone.
