On a related matter to the last post, If the statue was the real King Teddy standing on that plinth on the day of his Coronation. This is the view that he most likely would have seen.

Most of us would happily do it for half price payable in advance in full, and tell the council that they'll be invited to the official opening.   And we'd all hope for a cold, wet, day... O0

i wonder if any one has got any pictures of high gate angelina street and st martins flats from 1940 till about 1955 or upperhightgate street thanks roy

Sorry I can't do Angelina Street, but I can do the next street along Emily Street before they built the flats and the Emily Arms backed on to them.

St Martins flats not long after they were built showing the inside and the outside. Then a photo of some 40 or so years later when they thought better of it. In reality they were never much better than the slums they replaced. Other than the inside plumbing they were no different. I will say that people that lived there still had a sense of community that you don't find much of today.
