You are all commoners, born in Loveday St Hospital.

J2.... :D

All of us lovely people born at Loveday Street were special. different to the rest of you common people. I think it was even called the Special Baby Unit. We were all awkward births, and hopefully we have been that way ever since.

all loveday street baby's come in to the world fighting for life and it seems that most never give up fighting for better things some never made it but in them days thats the way things went but the ones that did are a force to be reckoned with and as each year goes by we get less and less
each day is a blessing and I bless each day when it comes

Hi JK, nice to meet you, well you didn't have far to stager from the pub, our nearest pub was two streets away, which was no problem, till they took up the tramlines, most nights we would be lost, ( and in some ways I still am,).. :buck2:..J2

Hi aber, Welcome to the forum.

Loveday St Maternity Hospital was at the side of the old General Hospital which is now the new Children's Hospital on Steelhouse Lane. It was specifically for difficult births. Or as in my case according to what my mothers says difficult children.

Sorry I don't remember a lot more about it as I was very young when I was there.

I worked on the general hospital when they where haveing an extra wing put on, ( across the road from the baby shop in loveday street,), you could see who was happy and who was sad, a woman would walk out with a little bungle in her arms all smiles, and some times you would see  women coming out holding a little bungle in their arms and crying or just looking down at her feet..J2

Hi aber,

Welcome to the forum. So, like Roy and Phil you're a ''born there''.  I'm from BH but was born at home - there was a war on.   Where do you live now?

Hi aber

This is a photo of Loveday St Maternity Hospital, with the nurses hostel next door. I was in the hospital once, but I never managed to get into the hostel.

My mom was expecting twins but sadly my twin sister did,nt survive.
I now have escaped the midlands and live by the sea in Aberystwyth.
