Hi folks, first time poster here.

I was born in Loveday Street, 30 Jan 1954, but I left Brum at 18 to go to university in Leeds, and I've lived there ever since. However, I still consider myself a proud Brummie, and as a lifelong Villa fan, glad I was born in Aston! On that note, there's one thing I've always wondered - would the Villa Park floodlights have been visible from the top floor of the hospital? Anybody know?   :)

I was born in Loveday street maternity hospital in December 1947. Mum said I was an awkward [censored] and was a forceps delivery. My grandfather (b.1878) and my Gt.grandfather (1838) were born and lived in Loveday Street. They were both ''gun brake fitters'. Whatever that was.

A brake is a design or fitting for the muzzle of a gun that helps cut down it's recoil.

Hi Jeff.
Please forgive me but I'm not to familiar with how this site works and I have struggled to answer your reply regarding the Coleing family. Hopefully you saw this post a couple of weeks ago and not in 2014 as I have not seen this in my inbox before.

i have a lot of information on my grandmother Emily Coleing. She lived with your relatives who owned a Shop in 13 Lupin Street along with her brother Elizah.

If this message gets to you (hopefully) it would be great to compare some notes.

Kind Regards Hilary
