Could it be this garage because other than the Valley pub and some prefabs I cant think of anything else at the bottom of Haunch Lane.

Well I think you need a local to work this out, this is a photo of the bottom of Haunch Lane before the prefabs were built. It shows the Tudor cinema on the right and just out of view on the right was the Valley pub, but there is no church hall in view.

Hi Phil,

I think you meant to say that The Valley was just out of view on the left of the photo.

Hi Bobby

Of course I did, it's just further to the left than the car park that you van see to the left of the photo. Here is a photo of the Valley in its entirety.

Although I lived nearby for most of my life I don't remember going into The Valley, I preferred The Bagnell, The Warstock & The Yardley Wood Social up the road mainly because most of my Uncles, Aunts & Cousins lived in the Warstock area.

A friend of mine used the Bagnell and the Yardley Wood social for years. I think I had a drink with him once in the Bagnell (now a MacDonalds) his name was Bobby also. Alas the last I heard of him he had passed away.

I managed the Warstock in  the 1990's with Ken Turner.  I tried to upload a photo but it's too big.  Does anyone remember the Stonehouses, Sleachy, Russel, Dominic, Trevor, Big Rich?  Where do they all drink now?  I bet there are a few ghosts causing mayhem on that estate!  Does anyone have a photo of  'The Cottage', our rival?   O0 :D :P :o

Hi Jojo

I don,t recognise any of the names you mention but if they are the only place to get a drink in that area nowadays is the Yardley Wood club as all the other watering holes have gone :(
