This one is about a coffee bar/
Any one recall the coffee bar in Union st. with a downstairs area opposite the 33 tram as I recall?
                                                           Regards Ken.

Hi Ken

How are you, we don't hear from you often enough. If the café in Union st was on the Corner of Union Passage it was Kunzles of the cake fame.

Your Whitby Rd garage is a bit of a mystery to me, the only Whitby rd I can remember was off Brighton Rd, Balsall Heath. That was a small residential road and I can't remember a garage there. What period are we talking about?

Not that I ever used it but I think Kunzles was a coffee bar, it was owned by Mecca Cafe's Ltd. I don't know if there was a downstairs room to it.

I can't recall any other cafe in Union st.

You didn't mention the Garage?

In the 70's we did quite a lot of work in Whitby Rd, Brighton Rd, Pembroke Rd & Newport Rd. We demolished most of the wing buildings to the houses there.

I don't recall a garage on the corner, on the one side there was a shop we did a lot of work on, opposite on the other side was about 8 to 10 garages for parking cars in. At the end of these was one garage for mechanical repairs that looked like two garages knocked into one. It wasn't very big and I don't think they sold cars.
