I think most of us used cafes when we were young, no doubt played on the pinball machines, but can you remember the machines that you had to get 3,4 or 5 balls in a row, horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win free games? Do you know if these machines were called by a different name than pinball? I have been looking everywhere for one but cant find any.

Anyone have any knowledge of the Riviera Snack Bar?  Can I ask the forum members do any of you have a problem with me posting questions asking for help in identifying places in Birmingham.

Sorry no knowledge of Riviera. As far as I'm concerned carry on asking. If you don't ask you'll never know and when you do find an answer and I read it then it adds to my scant knowledge as well.

the only Riviera Snack Bar? I know was on the soho road handsworth I spent Meany happy hour in the down stars room

yes that's the place it was in two parts up stars was for eating  and it had a down stars for us kids down stars used to shut at2100 and we then would go up stars and have egg and chips that used to cost us two bob (10p) it was a good meeting place for us kids and we could have a bit of a dance it was a boy meets girl kind of place (a glass of coke would cost you 5p   one shilling in our money  our wage in them days was about 3pound aweek
