Hello knocker,

One of our city's greatest and best thought of representatives was your near neighbour.

Percy Shurmer was our MP during your period in Belgrave Road, and he lived on the RH side going down from Moseley Rd.  I'm told that there is a plaque saying that he ''lived' there, or perhaps nearby.  An awful disgrace that he has not yet been much better commemorated by a city that he led to a few 'firsts'.

Hi again knocker,

There was a lad called (An)tony Quittenden who also lived on the RH side - he'd be about 68-69 now.

I knew nothing else about him - it was just his unusual surname that stayed in the depths beyond the reach of Uncle Alzy ;D

Hi Knocker

If you are talking about the pub on the corner of Moseley Rd then that was the Belgrave. One of my old locals. I drank in there in the early to mid 60's.

I had a mate Called Graham Barltlam who used the Belgrave he lived just down the hill on Belgrave Rd just on the left hand side of the road up a back court.I suppose in the mid 60's he would have been about 25.

Hi Knocker

Here is a bit of a hand drawn map with some names and shops from Belgrave Rd. A little earlier than you wanted it's from the 1930's but it might be of some help. Families stayed in one place for a long time back then. I can't remember where I got it from it may even been off here.

I know but with the upload allowance of 80k it's hard to get it much better. I'll see what I can do.

I've managed to make it a little bigger, but if you still can't read it then copy it to your photo file and enlarge it.

All I can suggest is that you pm me an email address and I will send you a copy of the original. But it's a low resolution scan anyway but you might have better luck.

A few more photos of Belgrave Rd for you, sorry they are nearly all pubs. But they are my favourite buildings.
