Appreciate the thread is a little old, but thought I would add my twopence worth!! As a kid I had a part-time job at Stocktons Bakery. It was at 8 Greenway St and was run by Don Stockton and his mother. All the stuff was prepared on the premises and it really was superb. Famous for its bread puddings and meat and potato pies. Place use to be bunged out the door on home days for the Blues. Great great simple and very evocative memories,

I don’t remember Stockton’s at Greenway Street, although we lived a stones throw in Little green lane, I was a bit too young. I do remember the one at the Broadway as Mom went every Saturday morning. Beautiful bread and mouthwatering boiled ham, sliced wafer thin.

Probably the same family given the demolition of Greenway St at the time. Great memories and great experience.

From the previous posts on this thread I’m sure that’s the case. Just a pity the shop’s gone!  :(
