I have just read that Birmingham Nightclub King, Eddie Fewtrel is not very well and is suffering from dementure. I only met him once in  Pollyannas and he seemed like a nice chap. Well we wish him well.

I read his book after Christmas it was wrote by his daughter much to his dislike , while I can relate to some of it I don't know whether or
not the rest of it is never never  land

If voting made any difference , they wouldn't let us do it.

Apparently Eddie disowned his daughter Abi after reading the book. Whether they have made up now I don't know.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

I went to Birmingham the other day and all the clubs and cinema s from the 60/70 have all gone so sad not see clubs like Rebecca's the dolce vita the futurist cinema and the cinema I worked out was the abc new street
I had som great times in the 70s.
Does anyone remember the top ten bar in the savoy hotel.
Was shocked as well to find the eagle pub doesn't exist anymore in hill street.

Scipio

Do you mean The Cavendish that later became Rebecca's? at the Tivoli Centre, Yardley.

I think the Cavendish became Bloomers, and then a bingo hall

Phil you're probably right , I know it was supposed to be a sister club to La Dolce Vita on the Smallbrook ringway

Rob

Of course you are correct, now if I remember correctly was Rebecca's the one in John Bright Street. The trouble with these clubs that sprang up in the 70's is that I never used any of them so my memory of them is pretty patchy. After I got married at the end of the 60's my nightclubbing days were over. The wife didn't mind me being in a pub until 4 in the morning, but night clubs were a no no.
