Snooks can't say I ever went in there , perhaps I was too inebriated by attraction of the pubs around and about

Welcome to you, oddly enough the Ringway Club was on Bromsgrove Street, previously known as the Pink Elephant. Live bands weekends and discos weeknights. A little at the rougher end for some club goers, but a lot of us thought t much better than what was in offer in the other few clubs in Birmingham in the early t mid 60's.

Scipio - the pubs must have been v. good! Abigails was next to Ginos - the Italian Restaurant on the Ringway. I had some fun times there. When I had just got out of drama school I helped organise a show there for Midlands singer Tony Rome who had been in the finals of New Faces. I believe he previously called himself Tony George. He had comedian Steve York to back him up and Rusty Lee who was a singer then - not the TV chef and personality she is today. She had an amazing voice. Brian Holland who owned the Rainbow Casino organised the food and drink. He was married to Maureen - heavily into antiques, if I remember rightly. It was after that Tony recorded an album Loving and Losing. Tony was resident singer at Chaplins in Broad Street that became Peppermint Park. He also used to sing and play guitar at the Celebrity Restaurant next to the Birmingham Rep when I was working there. I wonder if anyone remembers him?

Hi Snooks

When was that you are talking about, as I always knew Harry Morrall as the owner the Rainbow Casino including some of the other clubs . We even demolished one house either side of the casino for him in the 70's to enlarge the car park.

It must have been 1977 ... the album cover of Tony’s record was photographed at the Rainbow Casino. It was definitely Brian Holland .I worked there for a while dealing Blackjack .

Are you sure that this Brian Holland wasn't just a manager because obviously Harry had a few of those. He owned the Ambassadors Club, The Diamond Club. He certainly still owned the club when he passed away about ten years ago the manager at that time was a Sean Shepherd, I didn't know this chap as we only ever dealt with Harry.
