I guess I'm a bit older than a lot of you.  I used to go to the Tower Ballroom back in the late 1950's, also to the Bermuda in Station Street, when it was a  drinking club around 1959 ish.   Also used to go to the Locarno and the Tudor Club above and the Moat House in Moat Lane around 1961/62.  Other clubs were the Firebird in Carrs Lane, and the Jazz Club and Cha Cha Club at the Golden Cross in Aston.   Had some fantastic times.

I used to go to a lot of the clubs already mentioned but does anyone remember one in Stephenson Place in the 60s which I think was called the Silver Beat (could have been Silver something else). It was where the ramp in New Street is now and it was quite small dark and very noisy and it was open at lunchtime. The Top Rank was open at lunchtime also and its amazing how much dancing was done in the one hour lunch break from work.

I agree with you Mary about how much dancing was done in the lunch hour.  I often used to go to the Casino in Corporation Street in my lunch hour when I was about 15/16.  My mother didn't know I went as she thought it was a 'den of iniquity' !!

I used the Top Rank in the early 1970s and it was a great place with the two levels. Snobs also opened in the early 1970s it was a good club but a little to much glass about in there.

There were also Barbarella's, Pollyann's and Rebecca's which belonged to the Fewtrell brothers who also had a smaller club down Constitution Hill which used to be invatation only if my memory serves me right..I think it was called The Cedar Club

I used to frequent Club Cedar fairly often in the early 70s but I never had an invitation. Maybe that was on certain night's I don't know. One band I remember from there was the Graham Gallery Trio. I remember the because Graham Gallery used to drink in the Albany when I worked there in 1971.
Also just a short distance away from Cedar was a cafe called the Surfside Stop. next door to this cafe was another club who's name escapes me but we went up to it in a lift. The interior I remember was done out like caves. This would have been around 1967 ish.
