I think the nightclub at the Swan you can't recall the name of was The Cavendish, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Phil
It was the Cavendish, the sister club to the La Dolce Vita on Smallbrook Ringway. As a drummer I played there many times. Sean

Some more nite clubs & bars to add to the list and some already mentioned!

Snobs, Lacarno (powerhouse), Mr Moons, The Dome, Night Out (Or was that the dome before it was the dome??), Barberellas, Rum Runner, The Tower, Pagoda Park, Kalaidascope and the Copper Kettle!

There was also a small club under the arches at snow hill but forgot the name. I saw a local band there in the early 80's called 'Pyramid'. Ring any bells!!

Pat.
Hello Pat my name is Sean and I was Pyramid's drummer. The club at Snow Hill at one time was caled le Metro. Then it became the Holy City Zoo.

Hi Sean

I used La Dolce Vita a few times, but didn't class it as a night club, more a cabaret room. The Night Out was a previous incarnation of the Dome I used the Night Out another cabaret room but was far too old for The Dome and places like that when it opened.

Hi Phil
I went to the Night out once or twice, it wasn't very pleasant it took ages to get served, they didn't serve drinks while the artist was on stage. One night I remember seeing Dione Warwick there. She was the most unproffessional piece of rubbish I ever saw anywhere.

I went to La Dolce Vita many times It was more of a night club, yes it was a large caberet room, but it did have a seperate Disco downstairs by the entrance, it had a casino too but you had to got out into the street for that and enter through a seperate door, that was the law in those days so that you couldn't just wander into it by accident.      SB

Phil, sheldonboy,
I can see La Dolce Vita but cannot see the location and although I cannot remember going in there I was always going past it..still can't place it. Please put my mind out of it's turmoil.

Hi SB

The trouble with all live acts is they sometimes do not measure up to our expectations. I learned this early on in life at the Town Hall. Many of the acts that I saw there live were rubbish but were charting fantastic records at the time.

I learned to only pay to see acts that I knew were going to be good. Acts like The Big O, Tom Jones, Lulu, Kathy Kirby, The Tremaloes, P.J.Proby, Dusty Springfield, Screaming Lord Such, Long John Baldry.

I could go on forever, these people sounded the same on or off record and always gave their best.

I have to mention Norman Wisdom and Ken Dodd who were in my opinion two of the best live acts ever. They put everything they had into their act. After watching Norman Wisdom one give his all one night I have to say that I felt wore out so he must have been knackered.

La Dolce Vita was on the Ringway at the junction of Hurst St, somewhat opposite the Locarno on the lower bull ring side of the Ringway. The entrance was in the subway.

Sounds like you had the same taste as me in clubs, I was a regular at the Ringway and occasionally used the Cascade's and I think may have been in the Speakeasy.

I never used the Dolls Club though I did date on of the girls for a while. I don't think I knew Bunny Johnson's at Camp Hill or was that the Golden Gloves?
