I loved the bustle, activities and freedom of movement in the older, 1950s, Bull Ring. I guess the same could be said for earlier periods.
The 19th. century prints caught my eye when looking at the focal point which was, of course, St. Martin (of Tours) church. It does not appear as the focal point in the more modern pictures. The church looked different in the prints, artistic licence was my first thought, then I remembered the church was extensively rebuilt in 1875.
Although web sites refer to St. Martin of the Bull Ring the official address of the church is Edgbaston Street.
