This looks to be an early 1950's view of the Bull Ring.

The Bull Ring in 1957 looking up toward the High Street for a change. In 1957 the Big Top site on the corner of New Street & High Street couldn't have been opened all that long.

Looking across the Ringway at what was supposed to be the valet car parking area for the Bull Ring Centre, but it didn't quite work out the way it was supposed to so it was never used.

Did the space just stay empty?

It might have just been used for storage, but I never heard of it being used as a car park after they realised it was never going to work. I think it took much too long for people to retrieve their cars and long queues developed. I think it was doomed from the start as it was never a good idea as you can see from this film clip. The car park section start t 00.38 on the second counter at the bottom of the clip.

Am not sure if we are talking about the same place, but it would hav ebeen in about 1968 that I parked in the bull ring car park. They took my keys and moved the car themselves. Then  when I came back they could not find it for an hour or so , and even worse teied , at first to charge me for the hour they had been trying to find it

That sounds like the place, though I am surprised to hear that it was still going in 1968.

Bull ring flower sellers in what looks like the late 19th or early 20th century. I wonder how tall that chap on the left was?

Manzoni Gardens in 1965 which couldn't have been long after they opened it, I remember that for about 12 months they enforced a no walking on the grass rule. Though it must have been too hard for those poor green uniformed security personnel to enforce and they gave up. I spent many an hour sleeping on that grass after a all nighter at clubs and coffee bars.

The Bull Ring Centre valet car park as discussed earlier in this thread. The first photo shows the car park whilst in use and is taken outside the lifts used for moving the cars up and down to the different floors. The second photo shows the same place after the car park fell out of use.
