O0 Good result Pete. One side we will not get drawn against is Crawley just not our luck
I am watching Saints v MU who although they are one goal down now at half time I expect them to turn it around and Villa to draw them in the next round as we were 100 years
ago at Old Trafford on 06021911 where we lost 0-2 Team: George; Lyons and Miles; Tranter, Logan and Hunter; Wallace Walters Hampton, Bache and Henshall we will see!

Pete lets hope they argue among themselves over the odd 10K a week and forget they
are supposed to play together. What about tomorrow re MU  can you see us getting a
point? . I will forecast it optimistically 1-1 draw Wakahope

Hi Wak,

Sorry it has taken so long to reply.....I have been away.

I have changed what you asked into the 1887 FAC winning side, of whom there is a photo that I will upload, and the initial research has given the following;

Archie Hunter(holding the ball) was a Scot and was listed in the 1891 census as a Publican at No 1, High St, Six Ways, Aston.

Denis Hodgetts(same row, end right) born Birmingham, was listed in the 1901 census as a Publican ar No 8, Colmore Row.

Harry Yates(young lad seated left on ground) born Birmingham, was listed in the 1891 census as a Publican at No 183, Wheeler St, Lozells.

I wonder if that was their reward? Fascinating, all the same!!!!!

Tony

Hi Tony, Thanks for your response. It was a fascinating period in football around Birmingham at that time. The Cup Final was played at Kennington Oval before a
crowd of 20K Capt. Marindin presented Archie with the cup and his daughter gave
out the  gold medals. History had been made on 02041887 the first time the second
city paraded the trophy weighing only nineteen ounces as the jubilant men returned
home to a rapturous reception. On the day in Birmingham where Archie Hunter lived
the Bell Inn road was closed due to the throng of fans. They had beaten the 'Throstles'
who were favourites. A Mr Powell was the proprietor of the Bell drove over to Mr
Kynoch's house the President and returned with the Cup. As you see Tony the ale
played as important a part in the Scots as it does today. In conclusion I thank you
very much for your efforts and hope you can dig up some more facts if you find time
Total appreciation Wak Ps Team: Warner; Coulton, Simmonds; Yates,Dawson and Burton; Davis, Brown, Archie Hunter (c) Hodgetts and Vaughton

Great posts, waka, this is what a supporter of any club is all about. The likes of A. Hunter, J. Cowan, J.Devey, Pongo, Billy Walker & more recently, C. Aitken (best left back I ever seen) B.Little, G.Shaw etc,etc are icons to any villa fan worth their salt.

But lets not get carried away with the last two results, 0-0 vs Stoke, and a totally unexpected 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge. theres still a long way to go.
