Hi Pickard.r

it certainly looks as though the 'cooling' plant is  now a car park, but going back to the original photo. the lido would seem to have been on the other side of the belt of trees with the brook between lido and cooling plant.

THE OTHER LIDO AT ROWHEATH WAS BRILLIANT REALLY LOVED TO GO THERE AS A CHILD. EVEN HAD AN OLD MANGLE TO WRING OUT YOUR COZI SO YOUR KIT WAS REALLY LIGHT GOING HOME  :)

HI Daisywheel3

From memory I think Bournville Festival (and maypole) is normally the last Saturday in June.

I am intrigued by this photo. that Phil put on an earlier blog and which he believed was Rowheath Lido.

The pavilion behind it is clearly the one on the Mens Recreation Ground - corner of Bournville Road and Linden Road.
There is no lido there and I wonder if it could be on the site of the Baths on the 'Birdcage' before the proper baths were built.

Phil. Do you have a date for the photo?

It's a shame most of the lido's closed.

I used to use the one in Solihull, which is still there but derelict (see this link http://www.lostlidos.co.uk/2015/05/30/malvern-park-lido-1954/ ).

We'd take a picnic and spend all day there in the summer - oh, and you had to walk past Dave Hill from Slade's house to get to the entrance  ;D

One we used to cycle to was Droitwich Spa Lido and it looks like it is still going.

Nice to see one still open  :)

We sometimes went over to the park in Warwick, overlooking the castle, and there was one there.  I think it's just a paddling pool now rather than a swimming pool.

The Lido at Droitwich  reopened a couple years back after being closed for many years. I took the grandchildren there last year, but I didn't venture into the pool myself for fear of it overflowing it's sides.
