Dorothy Perkins are still going strong. They have stores in most towns here and many abroad. They've altered their target market to a slightly older generation than in your day.

Next to Marsh and Baxters was the Old Stone Cross.
Does anyone remember The Upstairs Jazz Club there in 1960-61?

It was a pub that I never went through the doors of, I think I might still have been too young to drink (or pass as old enough) when it was demolished.

Well we are at the top of James Watt Street at Corporation St now and if we look to the left we will see the first photo and if we look right we will see the second photo a few years apart of course.

Passing down Corporation St on the right hand side we would pass by The Dragon Gate Chinese Restaurant and The Central Methodist Hall.

A shop I remember next to Central Hall was "Ponds"I was always in there buying tools. Dek

So was I Dek, only worked round the corner in Stafford Street.
Brilliant photos Phil, it's just like yesterday,I love the old cars,especially the mini-van and A35 van, keep them coming, can't get enough.

On the other side of Corporation St stands Victoria Law Courts, and if we walk down to the bottom of the hill to Lancaster Place-Circus we can see the offices shops and solicitors chambers that ran from Colderidge Passage to Lancaster Place. Across the traffic island is the Central Fire Station.
