Judith

From the look of the cars and buses I would say the early to mid sixties. The church of the Messiah was a magnificent building it's a real pity it had to be demolished.

To be fair, that doesn't really look that much different - apart from the clothes & cars  ;D

Is that the same stretch?  The older picture posted looks like it's further down - towards the Varsity.

Judith,

The Plough and Harrow was on the corner of Chapel Lane, and the photo taken from Google Street View was taken from just before Chapel Lane on the left.

OK, I stand corrected then.  It looks very similar to what is still there further towards town.  I guess all the buildings on the left were knocked down when the road was widened (I think some of the ones on the right are still there but with modern windows).

Looking down Park Road Handsworth or is it Hockley?  From the junction of Factory Road and Benson Road with the Soho Tavern on one side and Wrensons Shop on the other.

Phil approximately where the second awning is on the right hand side , there used to be a chip shop there in the late 50's . I can't remember the owners surname but I remember the boss' forename Vernon . Although the chip shop in Bacchus Rd was nearer to my Sisters house in Harding St at the time . I used to fetch the chips from the shop in Factory Rd the novelty was he must have been the first or one of the first chippies to sell crinkle cut chips all those years ago
If voting made any difference , they wouldn't let us do it.

Just asking a question. Would anyone like to join me on a walk through some of Birmingham streets at midnight starting with Alum Rock or wherever you want to?
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?
