A much changed Farnborough Road in Castle Vale not long after it was built by the look of the photo. It's hard to believe now how those multi storey tower blocks were looked upon as the acme of modern living by the people that were rescued from the slums of Birmingham in the 50's and 60's.

From the look of the cars and buses I would say the early to mid sixties. The church of the Messiah was a magnificent building it's a real pity it had to be demolished.
Hi Phil, great picture. I can just see Stratford House tucked away to the right of the church. Spent many a happy hour looking at antiques in there.

Have a better look inside and out, I must say it looks in much better nick there in 1984 than I remember it in the 60's.

Oh that's a cracking one Phil. Never seen pics of the interior before. It was the late 70s when I used to go. Had very little money so used to walk into town from Aston with my wee girl just to be able to look at and handle lovely things. When she was older she liked to spend a few pence ( yes really!) on odds and ends.

Such a lovely quirky building.  Such a shame that it's just these little characters that are cleared to make way for the bland faceless modern developments.

That was the school between the church and Stratford House wasn't it? How many pupils went there it didn't look much bigger than Stratford House?
