Next to the chemist coming left was the off licence.And on a Sat queued outside Tabberners in the 50s for the ARGUS & Blue Mail for the football reports.Oppisite was the Glebe pub across the Road.A booky always stood on the steps taking bets.The cakes were good at Wimbushes but never bought any shoes from Jones

This photo if the information given with the photo is correct must be the oldest photo of Birmingham I have ever seen. The occasion is of the first official visit to Birmingham by any reigning monarch. It's the 1858 Visit of Queen Victoria to open the grounds of Aston Hall as a public park. Just arriving at New Street Station she is being received at Town Hall before making the journey to Aston.

It's also very clear for a photo of that age.  Normally the exposures were that long people are just a blur.  There are a coupe of blurry people who must be walking quite quickly, but even these are recognisable as people.  I've seem pictures where roads almost look deserted as any movement is blurred out of existence.

It's a great picture  :)

Fred I don't think it's a dark flag, the problem is it's such an old photo, but if you look closely there is some design on it.
