I've been doing a bit of Internet searching and there was a Raleigh Safety 7 that looks about right.  Made around the mid 30's.

Kettlehouse Road Kingstanding I would guess in the late 50's early 60's. The cafe is gone now but the chippy is still there.

I would think fish & Chips would have been about 1/3d then.

Phil in the early 60's in William St you could get a portion of chips for a tanner , this was the increased price from fourpence which if required could still fill a good two sandwiches

When I was at school we always said a six of chips and we seemed to say that for ages. The price always stayed the same.

I loved to watch the machine chipping the spuds back and forth back and forth , that of course happened if Mr Wood had a particular surge for chips on Friday night . Mr Woods brother also had a fish and chip shop in Bishopsgate St not far from the pub on the corner , Further up in St Martins St was where I got initiated into scratchings thats when the other two shops wer closed . A mate of mine was going for chips in St Martins St and he asked for some scratchings they were most generous we both got a packet

Yep, three sixes of chips on a Friday from the chippie in Sheldon. Never knew any different price.

A location that you would have to be a genius to recognise today as there have been so many changes. It's the junction of Jennings Row and Masshouse Lane. Sometime before the last war I would imagine.

This photo is tagged Webster Street - Newtown Row, but surely Webster Street was off The High Street.
