This photo tagged and titled Melvina Road in 1952 has got it wrong. In 1952 there was no Melvina Road, there was a Melvina Place a little further up this road but that was only a back terrace, This road was in fact the bottom section of Great Francis Street and when the demolition and rebuilding had finished it was renamed Little Hall Road. Melvina Road when it was built and named was further over toward the railway line.

Bell Holloway Northfield in 2003, I've walked up here many a time in the 70's from the Merritts Brook to the Bell. Sadly both pubs are now gone.

There seem to be many roads named Holloway all over the uk. 'The Road in a hollow', seems the obvious origin?

Most rural roads and roads that were not surfaced became holloway's over the years. The constant traffic of pedestrians and handcarts and horsecarts wore the soft surface down.
