What do you think of this building? Is it an architectural work of art or a giant lump of bubblewrap?

My son works at the silver slug.

I was fine with this until he told me being one of the largest buildings in the city it is a prime target for a terrorist attack. :o

Every great city in the world has some type of outstanding, ageless,  structure, New York, the Statue of Liberty, Paris, the Eifel Tower, Brusels, the Atomium, ect. ect. The money spent on this "peanut" could have been better spent on giving Brum something outstanding too. Selfridges looks like a pile of CD's, and it will go out-of-date along with the CD.

I suspect that it is a slapdash piece of work knowing that it will be soon out-of-date and have to be pulled down. I hope that happens soon and that next time they spend their (your) money on something good looking!!!

Graham.

You do all have to remember that this is a shop.

Not a lasting world recognisable monument.

I know it's a shop, but one with the pretence of being a monument.

We may have another "design icon" in a while. I heard that the bloke who designed the Gerhkin in London is meant to be doing a new caoch station in Digbeth for us. That must be one of the worst place to arrive in Birmingham. Can you imagine turning up to Birmingham for the first time and being dropped at Digbeth coach station. I shudder at it

I am impressed that none of the silver discs have fallen off or been nicked yet
