Kent St Baths were Birmingham's first public baths opening in 1851. In 1933 they were replaced by a new bath. The baths were bombed during the war but they were repaired and reopened. In 2009 after lying closed and boarded up for many years they were demolished despite a public outcry.

I'm not surprised there was an outcry, it's a magnificent piece of architecture, shame on them!
I'm sure it could have been put to community use with a little thought.

I haven't swam there but i would have loved to with all that opulence and those Roman steps to walk out of the pool. it looks like a spectator pool with all those seats.

Hi Pauline

My lodge was at the Talbot in Highgate Rd Sparkbook and later at the Brunswick Club on Moseley Rd, back then I would imagine that at least one in five pubs had lodges.

18 years ago there is all the chance in the world that I may have popped into the Clements or the Dolphin just up the road while I was wandering about at night, but I wouldn't remember it.

Forgive my ignorance but is Tilton Rd Girls the same as Tilton Rd school?  As this is the only photo I have.
