I went to hope street school .And remember the sweet shop opposite the school which the old lady kept. I used go into the shop most days to buy a small bottle of pop they were the same size as the school milk bottles. The old lady  would ask what flavour would i like. Then she would put the flavour in the bottle and fill it up with carbonated fizzy water from a machine.  Happy Days. Andy Capp

I remember a shop in Summer Lane, Aston, where they sold lemonade in stone bottles. They cost 3d but you got 2d back on the bottle. They'd be interesting collector's items now.

Frozen Jubbly

Sugar Easter Eggs, whatever happened to them.

A box of fruit gums, or a box of fruit pastiles.

Cadbury's waste (the slightly damaged sweets were put in brown bags)

Refreshers

Proper Hard Liquorice ( i coundnt spell it then either!)

Black Jacks

Sherbert Dip

Chix bubble gum with Famous Footballers cards inside.

Pear Drops from one of Birminghams last 'proper' sweet shops on the stairs to platform 7 at B.ham New Street Station---remember the big beautiful exterior mirrors with gold writing by the door?

Plastic has ruined the look and feel of our world-- look at the fake jars in sweet shops pretending to be olde worlde made of plastic--- Is there anywhere left with glass jars besides museums?

Look how steel fronted shops have ruined the high street. You cant beat a wood shop front.

Remember this lovely wood fronts and doors at Woolworths, well one of the doors at Woolworths in Momouth is a wood origina!
