its just a technicality no more no less its states that the hospital at the time was not part of Birmingham  you can call your self what you like its of no matter or importance   I was born in loveday street hospital   I did not have a say in the matter

I sometimes feel sorry for members and especially the moderators. Some new members come onto the forum ask a question or two, Members are then looking for answers. If answerer's are found or not you never hear from the original poster again. I will try and help anyone if I can and even go out my way. I know the forum is not compulsory but it would be nice for new posters to stay around for a while. That's it, had my rant in a good way, now back to argumentative townie.

Hi all. My grandfather lived in Inkerman St, 28 Porchester St and 57 Clifford St Aston between 1887 and early 1900s before joining the Navy. I'd appreciate any info such as photos, old maps or facts as his daughter my Mum is still alive and keen to know more about her roots.

PS his name was William Haywood and his Mum was Louisa Sabin who later married William Rose. My great grandfather also called William Haywood died before my grandfather was born. He was a brass polisher.

James Sabin age 41 b  Leamington

James 6 b Birmingham
Sarah A 4 b B'ham
Louisa 1 b B'ham


prior to this they had  Emma 1845,Hannah 1847 and William 1849 all born Foleshill.

I'm an exiled Brummie who has lived in Yorkshire since 1964. I made sure I married a cook, not a belly dancer!

I was born in Sheldon then my parents bought a fish and chip shop in Ladypool Rd. Sparkbrook and in 1957 I joined the Merchant Navy and 'disappeared' for 8 years.
My parents moved to Wolverhampton in 1959.

I have happy memories of Birmingham particularly Cannon Hill Park, Swanshurst Park and the old Bull Ring.

                welcome to the forum  its a small world   I owe your mom and dad I was down on my luck at the time and I had spent the night in farm road park im in my teens at this time the next night I was on the ladypool road  it was about 1900 I was cold and hungry and I went in the shop and said iv only got a penny can I buy some chips the lady gave me a bag of chips and said that's ok pay me next time  thanks
