What super photo's. To add to the Upper Highgate Steet saga i have just spoken to my 80 year old mom. She remembers the chemist being owned by the O'connors. That would have been in the war years ww2.

We do not have a photo of the shop where mom was bought up so if anyone can find one that it would be super. It was located 82-84 Upper Highgate Street and was a drapers in the name of Jones around the 1930's - 1940's. Not sure what the shop was before or after. Think mom moved during the 1940's to a private house in Yardley before settling in Kings Heath area were she still resides.

Also gran was born Bissel Steet in 1890. Anyone got piccys of that street in those years?

I remember that Bissel St, went from Gooch St down to Bradford St, I think you will find that the photo is the bottom end near Bradford St, at the top end was a glass company, a shopfitting company and a youth center, in the middle of Bissel St was a lot of terras houses, most of the kids ( our age) went to Hope St school or St Albans, but still a great photo, and theres lots more out there, so if you find anything, post it, O0
