Hi all, I came across this pic on the net "a tram on an unknown street Birmingham" all I can make out that it's the number 5 tram. I have to be honest I was not around when trams where the mode of transport,I can see from the photo that two tracks have merged into one at this point of the street or road.Any ideas anyone?

The number 5 tram route was Lozells to Gravelly Hill, so I would think there is a good possibility that it is on Lozells Rd.

Thanks Phil, you're the gentleman with the ace up your sleeve so to speak. I wonder if Mike can come up with a street plan/map to work out which part of the Lozells road it is or whether it is elsewhere on the route of the tram in question by looking at the tracks on the map at the point where the tracks merge into one?

This looks pretty good for being the same location, the only trouble is I don't know where this is on Lozells Rd either.

Can't find a Cable shoes in Lozells road , only in Bull St in 1949-1950. However I think that might be  Woolworths two shops past it, abnd woolworths was at 89-91. This was two shops away fro Saxone shoes at 95 and, on the other side, two shops away from Hartington road. there does look like the entrance od a road just in the right position.

Mike

I had come to almost the same reasoning myself, the 1950 Kelly's shows a shoe shop then a grocers before what looks to be the Woolworth's store. The thing that made me think twice was that there is no church in evidence, but looking harder at the photo I think I can just make out the outline.

Hi Phil and all
I have to agree with you Phil relating to the photo that you posted with the bus on the Lozells rd, the photographer is facing six ways Aston I think as for the photo that I posted the photographer would facing the villa cross.re-posting your pic that I have edited it a bit to show the church in the background.
