Old Fogey was the writer of sports matters relating to the Villa in those days Manchester
City visited in January and were beaten 2-0  A ceaseless downpour made the pitch into a terrible state. Halse and Hampton were on the scoresheet.
Fred Rinder a Villa director at the time said no player should be cautioned twice. Once
was enough and be sent off the next time. Seems like times have changed!

 In February 1912 West Ham were lying fifth place in the Southern League and had
beaten W.B.A. in the previous round of the F.A.Cup  Morrris played in place of Villa's Harrop and were never extended Hardy did not have a shot to save until 4 minutes from time.. Ironically Guzan did have a few shots to save on Saturday
