Roger,

If you haven't already done so, you should check out the fabulous collection of photos by the late DJ Norton, on his son Mark Norton's website.  The section on King's Heath includes a shot of Darlaston's newsagents in 1949 and lots more images you will enjoy.

Roger,

Here is a photo of the bend in Bank Street which I took in May 1991.  This shows the lockup garage we once rented when we lived just around the corner at 65 Grange Road. Your grandparents' house, No. 45, would be just to the left of this shot, as shown highlighted on this 1955 map.

Jack

Also any other ex or present resident of Kings Heath a couple of photos of Vicarage Rd. These are from the 1950's and are not great images. I have other one from much earlier. If you want me to post them just say so.

Brian/Phil.
Excellent.Darlaston's would be newspaper shop and the off licence would be the one on the corner of Station Road and Westfield Road. Rember the garage's and to the left of the gate can see the hedge Grandad planted.  The map shows the alley way between the two houses in Bank Street. Now to look at Mark Norton's Website.
Than You Roger

Hi Bobby

I recognised most of it, Kings Heath, Billesley? and the City Centre mostly I think. Yes York Rd was included.

Now I didn't recognise the music (not my scene) but it was enjoyable.

45 Bank Street, Kings Heath has not changed at all.  Even my granddad's hedge is growing in front garden.  Looking forward to visiting Birmingham next year.  Hope the current occupiers at home would love to see inside the house.  Full of memories.  Has anyone seen photos of branch 24 TASCO shop in Kings Heath.
Thank You
Roger
