I wondered if anyone remembers my mum, Val Purslow, who live in Ryton Grove from 1955 to 1969? My grandparents lived there through until 2010. I’ve read all through this thread and can see a few mentions of Ryton Grove and some names I recognised. Mum passed away suddenly a few weeks ago and I’d love to hear from anyone who knew her. Thank you

Hi Lisa I knew Ryton Grove as I went to Alderlea. There was a couple of kids in my class who lived up there but for the life of me cant remember their names. I do remember a girl up there though her name was Margaret Gant.

It is with great sorrow to let the forum know that my sister in law Pat willis(nee) Downes has passed away . Pat lived in Brownfield rd Shard End through her teeens and went Longmeadow girls school where she was head girl . Pat has been suffering with Motor Neurone disease for over 12 months , she has been very brave through her illness and was always positive . Pat was emailing me towards the end of her life where she expressed her love and fond memories of Shard End . Pat lived in Church Stratton for the last 15 years . Very sad funeral next week RIP Pat .

So sorry to hear your sad news, motor neurone is such an awful disease. I cannot imagine what it must have being like for you and your family having to watch a loved one suffer so much. May Pat rest in peace.
