Yes, my father Lionel Davis went to work first at Elliott Metals in Selly Oak at the age of 14 in 1928. This was taken over by ICI (Metals Division) and in due course he went to work at Kynoch Works in Witton. This split off from ICI some time in the 50s and became IMI Kynoch.
He was offered a job at Summerfield Research Station (Ministry of Defence factory run by IMI) south of Kidderminster in 1953 and continued to work there until retirement in 1976. 48 years service with effectively the same company!
