I really haven't a clue, but I would guess just prior to WWII.

The Norton public house at the junction of Bromford Lane and Farnhurst Road not long after it closed and then what replaced it.

Phil, wasn't the Norton pub on the junction of the Tyburn and Kingsbury roads and is now a Lidl store?
The pub on the corner of Bromford Lane was, I thought, called The Bromford. My mind may be playing tricks so apologies if I am way off on these.

You are thinking of The Navigation which is now the Chinese restaurant called Buffet Island.

Phil,

Sorry but the Navigation was on the corner of Kingsbury Road and Bromford Lane, now the Chinese buffet. The Norton, which I used a number of times with my late Father as I used to live in Holly Lane Erdington, was definitely on the corner of Tyburn Road and Kingsbury Road, now Lidl. The pub on Bromford Lane, now houses, never frequented so not 100% sure of the name.

You are quite right, please accept my apologies. It was the Bromford on the corner of Farnhurst Road. The trouble being that these pubs were well out of my drinking area and I never used any of them. I'll have to see if I can correct my mistakes if not I will delete them.

Phil,

No problem. We all have our little Jigsaw pieces of knowledge which make up the "whole" of what we know and learn. That is why this site is so interesting and educational.

I have deleted the original image and this is the correct pub The Bromford that was on the corner of Bromford Lane and Farnhurst Road.

Joseph Lucas:
And to think he started as a jobless father of six selling paraffin oil for lamps from a handcart around the streets of Hockley.
