Was it on here that I said that I had read a report of the discovery of half of one of them on a rubbish skip during the demolition of the Bull Ring Centre?

Probably  ;D  Though the BBC recently ran an article on missing public artwork raising speculation that there could be at least one still out there somewhere.

On the last picture set, is that the same building in both, or was the original demolished and a new one built.  I can see differences, but can't tell whether it's just remodelling or a completely different building.

What surprised me about the story of the old Bull being found in a skip was, most demolition contractors have a very good idea of what will fetch a good price if salvaged. Without a doubt one of the Bull Ring bulls would have been top of my list.

As for the building on the Quinton images (that is the one you mean?) I think the  Holly Bush was an entirely new building that was built in 1937 to replace an earlier Holly Bush that was further up (Holly Hill) Hagley Road West toward Birmingham. The image of the original building was taken in 1934.

If we backtrack now as far as Five Ways Island we can head down Islington Row (is it still called that)?

Yes Phil, we have discussed that point. If a builder does own a bull, the yet to be opened museum of Birmingham logos would be very pleased to hear from him.

This is a great thread Phil, love seeing the views with many years between. Any idea what the slim tower is on the Sandon Road photo?

It's the fountain that I assume Fountain Road nearby is named for.

How do you post 2 photos side by side? I have quite a few to post.
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

Heading further down Lee Bank we come to the Bristol Road Junction where for many years stood the Bristol Cinema, it's now a Macdonalds.

Moving up the Bristol Rd to Bournbrook, even though we now have a bypass around Bournbrook & Selly Oak the old road is still there and though less busy now it has hardly changed.
