Hi laoramag

Welcome to the forum, I'd like to help you but I'm afraid I have no recollection of the Ristorante Arena in the 70's Bull Ring and I didn't use the Bull Ring much in the 80's. So perhaps you can help by telling me exactly what and where in the Bull Ring it was?

Hi Phil thank you for your reply,
It was next  to the Matador pub and owned  by Italians who had a few
places but one of the partners Tony Cataldo (chef)taking over.Renato
used to sing there .I think it went into receivership mid eighties I think.

That explains why I didn't have any memory of it, in my times it was called the Witzy Doo, and being honest I must have passed by it a thousand times but I never used as the Witzy or the Ristorante. Though I spent many a happy evening in the Matador.

Rene of Rene and Renata (Save your love) worked there as a waiter. After service in the evenings he would sing to the customers.

Renato's brother Umberto runs a Cafe/ Restaurant in Hall Green I have used it quite regularly over the years They recently moved from Highfield Rd on to the Stratford Rd now Known as Nonnos Kitchen. Cafe/ Takeaway/ Shop during the Day. Excellent and good Value Meals from Ala Carte Menu during the evening.
Renato passed away some years ago of course
