Old Northfield
« on: October 10, 2020, 03:34:15 PM »
I have a clear and vivid memory of being taken by my grandfather to see a dray horse being shod at a blacksmith on the Bristol Road in the middle of Northfield Village.  I can find no trace or record of this anywhere so can anyone confirm I am not dreaming.  It must have been in the late 1940's or very early 1950's as trams were still running back in the day.

Hi, haven't been on the forum for ages. On the OS 25 inch, 1892 1914 map there is a smithy shown directly opposite the Bell Inn. Use the National Library of Scotland map service to see it.
